As documented in the “About Us” sections of this website, the SISU post-graduate level program in Intercultural Communications began in 2002. On the following pages, we provide a list of the Masters Degree thesis papers that have been successfully defended toward the awarding of MA degrees in the College of English (written in English) since 2002 and in the College of Journalism and Communication (written in Chinese) since 2009 (with the development of an independent School of Journalism, it was renamed the College of Media and Communications since 2012).
While the program was a part of the “Cultures of Native English Speaking Countries” (or “Culture Direction) major (intake years from 2002-2004), all papers of the then 3 year MA were supervised first by Prof. Steve J. Kulich 顾力行 and then also by Zhang Hongling张红玲. When the program was made a fully developed study direction independently as “Intercultural Communication” (跨文化交际学) with the 2005 intake group and then cooperatively linked to the newly established SISU Intercultural Institute (SII) in 2006, other advisors were recruited and have continued to be mainstays in the program (see the list below).
The documents follow chronological order by intake cohorts (with graduation dates two to three years later depending on defense dates). Each is listed in APA format with an added click-on hyperlink provided to take interested browsers directly to the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) full-text database for Chinese Doctoral/Masters Dissertations (CDMD).The software package “CAJ Viewer” may be needed for downloading. Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) versions may be available on request to those who cannot easily access the CNKI.
Most of the theses were written in English (with Chinese abstracts and Titles) and an English outline appears on the link page (except for Communications majors, which were written in Chinese (with English abstracts). The current list of 204 completed MA theses below is organized by advisor, and then under each, by cohort in chronological order.
